There is an abundance of options when it comes to choosing a greens powder to include in your daily routine. You’ve likely heard that nutrient-dense greens are beneficial for your well-being, but not all greens powders are created equal. While it’s easy to get caught up in a convincing Instagram Ad, or pick up a container of greens with aesthetic branding and key marketing terms such as ‘high in antioxidants’, or ‘medicinal plant powder’, the look and marketing of a product do not always accurately represent the quality and efficacy of what’s actually inside.
4 Things That Determine an Effective Greens Powder
Nutrient-dense greens are far more beneficial when they are juiced and then dehydrated at low temperatures to make a powder, rather than drying the whole plant that still contains indigestible fibre. Many greens products are made with the whole plant, and since cellulose is only easily digested easily by cows, you may not be breaking down and absorbing the nutrients in a ‘whole plant’ greens product.
Transparent Ingredient List
Each ingredient should be disclosed in the exact amount. Proprietary blends which are often labelled as ‘Greens Blend’ or ‘Detox Blend’ often increase the perceived value of a product, however, this term can mask an ineffective mix. Often times these actually contain a higher portion of the cheapest ingredient, and minuscule amounts of key nutrients.
Many greens products are formulated with as many as 50 ingredients, but when you analyze the contents, you may find that most of these are added in nutritionally-insignificant amounts. A lengthy ingredient list can end up reducing the amount of the important nutrients that you’ll get in one serving.
No Herbal Extracts
Herbal extracts are not food, but medicines for specific health conditions. Herbal medicines should only be used for a limited period of time to help correct an illness. They are not recommended for long-term use — such as in a greens formula you consume regularly.
Did you know: Enerex Greens Original was the first greens product to enter the Canadian market back in 1997? This was also our flagship product. Our unique blend is scientifically researched and found to be 2-3 times more nutrient-dense than other brands.
What Makes Enerex Greens Unique
Made with Juiced Grasses
Our greens. are made with certified organic and gluten-free kamut, alfalfa, oat and barley grasses. These nutrient-dense grasses are cold-pressed and dehydrated at low temperatures. Cold-pressed juicing requires advanced processing techniques, and more plants to create the final product. If you’ve ever used a wheatgrass juicer, you would know that it requires a large amount of wheatgrass to extract a very small amount of juice. Our greens are also the coolest on the market; they have never been exposed to temperatures above 31°C (88°F), which is significantly lower than the market best of 41°C (106°F). Dehydrating at low temperatures is essential in order to prevent oxidation, and retain the maximum potential of vitamin, antioxidant, and living enzyme content.
Grown on Volcanic Land
Our grasses are grown on 2,800 acres of certified organic farmland. This land is situated on an ancient volcanic sea bed in the mountains of Utah, at an altitude of 5,000ft. This altitude in combination with mineral-rich topsoil contributes to a significantly higher chlorophyll, vitamin, and mineral content. Annual crop rotations and natural mineralized from surrounding hills ensure maximum nutrition in each harvest. The young grasses are harvested in their pre-joint stage, when their nutrient density is at its peak, they are then rinsed, juiced and dried onsite at 31°C (88°F).
Contains No Fillers
Every ingredient in Enerex Greens is nutritionally wealthy from the Hawaiian-grown spirulina to the soya lecithin. Spirulina is blue-green algae, containing chlorophyll (green) and phycocyanin (blue) phytonutrients. Phycocyanin has been shown to support the nervous system and brain, and helps produce new stem cells in bone marrow. Chlorophyll, which is called “the green blood of plants” closely resembles the hemoglobin found in red blood cells. Spirulina is one of the most nutritious foods known, containing a wide spectrum of vitamins and minerals. Lecithin is a fat that is essential for creating healthy cell membranes, lecithin naturally contains phospholipids including phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylserine which are imperative for cognitive function, nerve health, liver repair, mood and stress support. Enerex Greens formula contains an oil-free powdered lecithin from non-GMO soybeans containing 97% phosphatides.
Formulated with Vegan Probiotics
Probiotics support the absorption and assimilation of nutrients. Enerex adds advanced professional-grade probiotics to both the Original and Mixed Berries formulas. These good bacteria include human strains of L. Acidophilus, B. Bifidum and B. Longum, these particular strains are research supported for maintaining a healthy gastrointestinal tract. Unlike most probiotic cultures, these do not need to be refrigerated as they are not dairy or soil-based. These human-origin strains are resistant to digestive acids, so they are also able to reach the intestinal tract, and are more likely to stay and colonize for better digestion.
Designed for Everyone
Enerex Greens Mixed Berries does not include herbs or herbal extracts which makes it safe for daily use and suitable for the whole family, including seniors, young children, and pregnant or nursing mothers.
