Oil of Oregano is entrenched as a potent natural medicine. It’s primary constituents, carvacrol and thymol, are powerful and effective to help combat viruses, bacteria, parasites, and yeast & fungal infections. Wild Mediterranean Oregano is an oil-rich plant. Each oregano leaf contains hundreds of oil glands rich in a variety of natural chemicals. Numerous studies have revealed this complex blend of chemicals to be powerful, with the top component being carvacrol, which gives the herb its aroma and spicy taste.     

Carvacrol is called a phenolic, a type of antioxidant. Carvacrol works in combination with its partner component, thymol. Taken internally, carvacrol and thymol support your immune, digestive and respiratory systems. Carvacrol and thymol also act as an antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, antiplaque, fungicidal, candidicide (keeping candida yeast in check), and expectorant (promoting mucous discharge from the respiratory tract).

Used externally, they work as an antiseptic and pain relieving analgesic for arthritis, headaches, inflammation and insect bites, and treat conditions like shingles and neuralgia (nerve pain).

Throughout the ages, Oil of Oregano has been used for a wide range of medicinal purposes — its origins can be traced as far back as 3000 BC in Babylonia. In Greek, oreganos means "delight of the mountains"; the Greeks considered Oregano the premier medicinal plant. Today its ingredients are used in advanced pharmaceutical medications including fungicides.

A powerful do-it-all herbal healer. The best wild Oregano Oil contains a minimum of 80% carvacrol – the chemical responsible for many of its healing properties. High carvacrol content is a measure of Oregano Oil quality. Why do we add olive oil?

Adding olive oil is necessary because pure Oil of Oregano is too harsh to consume orally, and can burn the skin if applied topically without a carrier oil such as olive oil or Black Seed Oil.

Olive oil offers polyphenols, the antioxidant said to decrease heart disease by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, and the good fats omega-6 and -9, making olive oil the star attraction of the Mediterranean Diet. It has to be cold-pressed (“extra virgin”) to retain these qualities. We use only organic, 1st pressing, extra virgin olive oil in Orega More.

We also added vitamin A and D to this formula to further enhance Orega More’s disease-fighting functionality, making it an immune-boosting superhero.  As antioxidants, they also increase shelf life of the oils.

Species that contain higher levels of carvacrol grow in the Mediterranean, and are therefore more potent. Depending on the variety of Oregano, it also contains more or less thymol. Our Oregano vulgare plants from the Mediterranean are harvested at their peak in June and July, left to dry for 1-2 days, and then transferred to a special extractor unit.

The oil is obtained from the dried leaves and flowers of the herb by steam extraction using a special technology. It takes 1000 kg of the dry herb to produce 15-30 kg of the essential oil.
